MIAMI, July 9 (Reuters) - The first hurricane of the 2008 Atlantic storm season strengthened back into a Category 2 hurricane on Wednesday as it barreled toward the British colony of Bermuda, U.S. hurricane forecasters said.

Hurricane Bertha's top sustained winds had reached 105 miles per hour (165 km per hour) and it was around 600 miles (1,060 km) southeast of the mid-Atlantic offshore financial center by 5 p.m. EDT (2100 GMT), the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.
