Fire engulfs several buildings in New Jersey -police

NEW YORK, Nov 9 (Reuters) - A fire engulfed four buildings in West New York, New Jersey, on Friday, police said.

Plumes of black smoke and flames could be seen across the Hudson River from New York City, Reuters witnesses said.

A North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said the blaze was a five-alarm fire involving four buildings.

The small town of West New York lies 8 miles (13 km) west of New York City in a densely populated region of New Jersey.
