RALEIGH, N.C., Feb 13 (Reuters) - A former CIA contractor was sentenced to 100 months in prison on Tuesday for assaulting an Afghan prisoner who later died. A U.S. judge in Raleigh, North Carolina, sentenced David Passaro to 100 months on a felony count of assault causing serious injury and six months each on three misdemeanor counts of simple assault, to run concurrent with the 100-month sentence. Passaro was convicted last August of beating Abdul Wali, who died of his injuries two days after a June 2003 interrogation. Passaro was the first civilian to be charged with abusing a detainee in the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
