RENO, Nevada, June 13 (Reuters) - Two U.S. military aircraft collided on Friday in flight over Nevada, killing a pilot, a spokesman for a U.S. Naval air station said.

The crash during an exercise over a training range involved an F-18 Hornet and a F-5 Tiger.

The pilot of the F-18 was found dead by search crews and the two-person crew of the F-5 ejected safely, said Zip Upham, a spokesman for the Naval Air Station Fallon east of Reno, Nevada said.

"We're going to be conducting a fairly extensive investigation as to the cause of the mishap, but at this point it's very preliminary," Upham said, adding that there were no injuries or damage to structures on the ground.
