UN envoy missing in Niger - UN officials

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 15 (Reuters) - A former Canadian diplomat who serves as U.N. special envoy to Niger has gone missing in the West African state, U.N. officials said on Monday.

The officials said a vehicle in which envoy Robert Fowler, another Canadian whom they declined to identify and a local driver were traveling was found abandoned on Sunday evening some 45 km (30 miles) northeast of the capital Niamey. (Reporting by Patrick Worsnip, Editing by Sandra Maler)
