VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct 19 (Reuters) - A small plane crashed into an apartment building near the Vancouver International Airport on Friday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries.

Witnesses told local media the twin-engine plane struck the eighth and ninth floors of the building, but no smoke or fire was evident in television pictures from the scene.

There were no details on deaths or injuries. A police spokesman told local media it was believed there were two people on board the aircraft.

The aircraft had taken off from the airport, which is in the Vancouver suburb of Richmond, shortly before the crash and had been on a flight to a another Vancouver suburb, according to an airport spokeswoman.
