BOGOTA, June 20 (Reuters) - Colombia on Friday protested about comments made by Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega in which he called Colombian leader Alvaro Uribe a "terrorist" for ordering the bombing of a Marxist rebel camp inside Ecuador in March.

"He says he's fighting terrorism but he's the terrorist," left-winger Ortega said at a meeting in his Central American country attended by survivors of the raid in which a key Colombian guerrilla leader was killed.

Colombia shot back a letter to Nicaragua "rejecting most energetically" Ortega's comments, which were made on Thursday.

Uribe, a conservative White House ally who has used billions of dollars in U.S. military aid to combat the four-decade-old Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, has often sparred verbally with Ortega.

The two criticized each other in the weeks after the raid, which prompted the leftist governments of Ecuador and Venezuela to briefly reinforce troops on their Colombian borders. (Reporting by Hugh Bronstein)
