GAZA, Dec 11 (Reuters) - A Palestinian gunman was killed and at least two others were wounded by an Israeli missile strike in the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday, militant sources and medics said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said an Israeli aircraft had fired at a group of militants near the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun, and identified hitting them.

An official from the Islamic Jihad militant group said the man killed was a member of their group.

The Israeli army frequently carries out attacks against militants in the coastal territory in an attempt to stop rocket fire into southern Israel. (Reporting by Nidal al-Mughrabi)
