March 7 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq as of 1730 GMT on Wednesday:

* BALAD RUZ - A suicide bomber blew himself up in a cafe in the town of Balad Ruz, northeast of Baghdad, killing at least 26 people, Balad Ruz police chief Faris al-Umayri said.

BAGHDAD - Three U.S. soldiers were killed and another was wounded by a roadside bomb northwest of Baghdad.

ISKANDARIYA - Six Shi'ite pilgrims were killed and 13 were wounded after they were hit by mortar bombs in the town of Iskandariya, 40 km (25 miles) south of Baghdad.

BAGHDAD - A car bomb in Saidiya in southern Baghdad killed seven Shi'ite pilgrims and a policeman, a police source said.

BAGHDAD - Insurgents ambushed Shi'ite Muslim pilgrims in southern Baghdad, killing seven and wounding 27 with a roadside bomb, police sources said. However Qassim Moussawi, spokesman for the Baghdad security plan, told Iraqiya state television there were only three casualties, it was not clear if he meant dead or wounded.

BAGHDAD - The Iraqi army killed 13 insurgents and arrested 157 others during the last 24 hours in different parts of Iraq, the Defence Ministry said.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen targeting Shi'ite Muslim pilgrims killed one pilgrim and wounded three others in the Nahdha area of central Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen wounded six pilgrims in Baghdad as they were heading to the holy city of Kerbala to commemorate the Arbain, the end of 40 days of mourning since Ashura, which marks the death of Prophet Mohammad's grandson in 680, police said.

DIWANIYA - Gunmen killed a police officer and his 10-year-old son on Tuesday in a drive-by shooting in Diwaniya, 180 km (110 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

NEAR DUJAIL - Gunmen killed four Shi'ite men and wounded another on Tuesday in a drive-by shooting near the town of Dujail, police said.
