China puts quake death toll at almost 29,000

BEIJING, May 17 (Reuters) - The death toll from the deadliest earthquake to hit China in three decades has risen to almost 29,000, cabinet spokesman Guo Weimin told a news conference on Saturday. (Reporting by Guo Shipeng and Benjamin Kang Lim; Editing by Nick Macfie)
