China tunnel collapses, 22 workers trapped

BEIJING, Aug 5 (Reuters) - A railway tunnel being built in central China has collapsed and trapped 22 people, Xinhua news agency reporter on Sunday.

The accident happened in the early hours in Hubei province, and at first trapped 38 people, it said, though 16 were rescued.

"According to rescue officials, they have got into contact with the trapped workers in the tunnel and they are now in stable condition with no imminent danger to life," Xinhua added.
