Jan 17 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq as of 1830 GMT on Wednesday:

* BAGHDAD - Police retrieved 30 bodies around Baghdad in the 24 hours to Wednesday evening, a police source said. Most had been tortured and shot.

* MOSUL - Ten unidentified bodies of victims of violence were delivered to the morgue in the northern city of Mosul, a hospital source said.

* BAGHDAD - Gunmen seized five people from a housing complex in the Bayaa district of southwestern Baghdad, a police source said.

* BAGHDAD - Majed Nasser Hussein, a lecturer in veterinary medicine at Baghdad University, was shot dead in the Amriya district of western Baghdad, a police source said. Academics have been frequent targets of Islamic extremists, the United Nations says. At least 70 people were killed in a bombing at Baghdad's Mustansiriya University on Tuesday.

* BAGHDAD - An Iraqi soldier was killed and four civilians wounded in a clash between the Iraqi army and gunmen in the mainly Sunni Yarmuk district of western Baghdad, a police source said.

FALLUJA - Two U.S. soldiers have been killed in Anbar province in western Iraq, the U.S. military said. One of the soldiers died on Monday, the other on Wednesday.

BAGHDAD - A car bomb at a market in the Baghdad Shi'ite stronghold of Sadr City killed at least 15 people and wounded 33, police sources said.

BAGHDAD - Several explosions which police sources said were mortar rounds were followed by clashes in the Haifa Street area of central Baghdad, where U.S. and Iraqi forces staged a major offensive against Sunni rebels last week. There were no details on casualties.

BAGHDAD - A local government official in Mansour district of Baghdad was kidnapped and four of his guards were killed in western Baghdad, police said.

KIRKUK - A suicide truck bomber blew himself up near a police headquarters in Kirkuk, northern Iraq, killing 10 people and wounding 42 others, police said.

BASRA - A roadside bomb wounded two coalition force soldiers in the southern city of Basra, a British military spokeswoman said. She declined to confirm their nationality but most of the foreign forces in Basra are British.

A cameraman of al-Aalam satellite channel was also detained by British forces for "acting suspiciously" as he was taking footage at the scene, a British spokesman, said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb exploded near a minibus and wounded six people in the southern Doura district of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Iraqi and U.S. forces arrested three suspected insurgents and seized a number of weapons on Tuesday during a raid in the Doura district of Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces detained 28 suspects in raids around Iraq on Wednesday, the U.S. military said. One of those detained was identified as a senior bomb attack coordinator and weapons dealer for al Qaeda in Mosul, a statement said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb targeting a police patrol killed a policeman and wounded three others in the busy area of Bab al- Sharji in central Baghdad, police said.

ISKANDARIYA - Police found the body of a policeman strangled on Tuesday in the town of Iskandariya, 40 km (25 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

MAHAWEEL - Gunmen killed two brothers on Tuesday in a drive- by shooting in the town of Mahaweel, 75 km (50 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

ISKANDARIYA - Several mortar rounds landed on a residential district on Tuesday killing a woman along with her son, and wounding 10 others in Iskandariya, police said.
