SEOUL, June 7 (Reuters) - The following is a summary of major South Korean newspapers on Thursday, prepared by Reuters in Seoul. Reuters has not checked the stories and does not guarantee their accuracy.

CHOSUN ILBO

- Japan will operate a government-run radio broadcasting service aimed at North Korea starting next month, with programmes focusing mainly on the abductee issue, according to a Japanese government official.

- U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is planning initiatives to push the six party talks forward, possibly through the participation of U.N. leader himself, according to an internal report.

- South Korea will ship 53 tonnes of rice worth $136,000 to the United States, the country's first rice exports since its liberation from Japanese rule in 1945, the agricultural ministry said.

DONG-A ILBO

- North Korea has purchased $100 million worth of crude oil and food supplies from China as it anticipates South Korea will delay aid, according to North Korea-related sources.

- New York-Presbyterian Hospital will be built in Incheon, with an opening planned for July 2010, making it the first foreign hospital in South Korea, according to the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority.

KOREA ECONOMIC DAILY

- Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd. <003480.KS> will establish an engineering company as part of its plans to start a marine plant, said president Park Gyu-won.
