SEOUL, Feb 7 (Reuters) - The following is a summary of major South Korean newspapers on Wednesday, prepared by Reuters in Seoul. Reuters has not checked the stories and does not guarantee their accuracy.

DONG-A ILBO

- North Korea has developed or already deployed a submarine or ship-mounted ballistic missile system with a range of at least 2,500 km (1,553 miles), according to a recent report from a research arm of the U.S. Congress.

- The National Tax Service said the number of South Koreans earning more than 100 million won ($107,200) per year totalled 53,000 in 2005, a 30 percent rise from 2004.

KOREA ECONOMIC DAILY

- Woori Financial Group <053000.KS> received three to five applications for the chairman's post, with former Vice Finance Minister Bahk Byong-won and current Woori Financial Group chairman Hwang Young-key seen as the strongest contenders.

KOREA TIMES

- About 5,000 doctors in Seoul and Inchon closed their clinics on Tuesday to protest the Ministry of Health and Welfare's proposed revision to the medical sector laws, which would expand the duties of nurses.

- Hyundai Motor <005380.KS> officials said the company has decided to delay the start of construction of its Czech plant, which was initially scheduled for early March.
