CHOSUN ILBO

- A team of South Korean scientists who produced the world's first cloned dog has cloned three more puppies, female Afghan hounds.

- South Korea is unlikely to catch up with Japan economically and the gap between the two countries is expected to widen because of South Korea's weak technological and labour competitiveness, Hyundai Research Institute said.

JOONGANG ILBO

- South Korea's economy will grow less than 4 percent in 2007, according to the Korea Employers Federation.

- Hynix Semiconductor <000660.KS> has developed the world's fastest memory chip for PCs by using a 60-nano engraving technique, the company said.

- India's President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam pledged full support for POSCO's plan to build an integrative steel mill in the eastern Indian state of Orissa, POSCO <005490.KS> said.

KOREA TIMES

- A German village will open in Tangjin, South Chungchong province, in 2008 to help Korean-Germans settle in Korea.

- A 97-member delegation from South Korean aid group Korean Sharing Movement will visit North Korea via an air route that has been closed since the communist state's nuclear weapons test in October, Yonhap news reported.

- The government plans to cap the price of new apartments built by private companies to rein in housing prices.
