Strong aftershock hits Indian islands

NEW DELHI, June 28 (Reuters) - A strong aftershock struck India's remote Andaman Islands on Saturday but there was no tsunami alert and there were no reports of damage, officials said.
"The magnitude is 5.7. There is no tsunami alert," Srinivas Kumar, an official at the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services, told Reuters.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake, shallow at 21.7 miles deep (35 km), was centred 90 miles (140 km) southwest of Port Blair and was of 6.3 magnitude,.
A similar magnitude quake on Friday in the same area caused no damage or casualties. (Editing by Eric Walsh)
