KABUL, March 8 (Reuters) - A NATO soldier died on Thursday after being injured during fighting in southern Afghanistan, the alliance said in a statement.

It gave no further details, including when or where the soldier was hurt, nor his nationality.

NATO and Afghan troops this week launched their biggest operation so far to pre-empt a spring offensive by a resurgent Taliban after last year saw the worst fighting since the Islamists were ousted by a U.S.-led coalition in 2001.
