TABLE-Industrial nations' greenhouse gases output
30 Apr 2007 10:51:20 GMT
Source: Reuters
April 30 (Reuters) - Following is a ranking of industrialised nations according to their greenhouse gas emissions between 1990 and 2004.

Top five sources of greenhouse gases (2004 unless stated):

millions of tonnes tonnes per capita 1. United States 7,067.6 24 2. China (2000) 4,938 4 3. Russia

2,024.2 14 4. India (2000)

1,884 2 5. Japan 1,355.2 11

First column is percentage change between 2004 and 1990, the baseline for the U.N.'s Kyoto Protocol on limiting global warming. The second column gives the country's actual Kyoto target, where it has one. Most countries have to cut emissions on 1990 levels by 2012, although some countries were allowed to increase emissions.

Other columns are in millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent:

2004-1990 Kyoto goal 2004 2003 2000 1990
