Northern Japan quake has magnitude 7 - govt agency

TOKYO, Sept 11 (Reuters) - An earthquake that struck off the coast of Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido on Thursday had a preliminary magnitude of 7, the meteorological agency said on Thursday.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, but the agency issued a tsunami warning for the area.
