Senate panel OKs pullout goal for troops in Iraq

WASHINGTON, March 22 (Reuters) - A Democratic plan requiring President George W. Bush to start pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq within four months advanced on Thursday, winning approval by a Senate committee. The Senate Appropriations Committee passed a $121.6 billion bill to continue funding the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, while setting March 31, 2008, as a goal for withdrawing most U.S. combat forces. A similar withdrawal proposal, however, failed to clear the full Senate last week.
