WASHINGTON, March 22 (Reuters) - A Democratic plan requiring President George W. Bush to start pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq within four months advanced on Thursday, winning approval by a Senate committee.

The Senate Appropriations Committee passed a $121.6 billion bill to continue funding the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, while setting March 31, 2008, as a goal for withdrawing most U.S. combat forces. A similar withdrawal proposal, however, failed to clear the full Senate last week.

Men pray near the coffins of victims killed in Thursday's bomb attack during a funeral in Najaf, 160 km (100 miles) south of Baghdad, March 30, 2007. Suicide bombers killed nearly 130 people in a crowded market in a Shi'ite district of Baghdad and a mainly Shi'ite town on Thursday, one of the bloodiest days in Iraq in months.
