ELANDSRAND MINE, South Africa, Oct 4 (Reuters) - South African mine officials were confident of rescuing all 3,200 gold miners trapped deep underground on Wednesday after the first 75 were brought to the surface, a senior mine official said.

Harmony Gold <HARJ.J> Chief Executive Officer Graham Briggs told Reuters that 75 miners were brought to the surface shortly after 2330 GMT at the mine near Carletonville, south-west of Johannesburg.

"There have been no injuries or deaths...It may take as long as 10 hours, the cage (lift) is travelling fairly slowly to avoid risks...I'm very confident all will come out," Briggs said.
