Food Force,” the video game that entertains and educates on humanitarian aid, now becomes a children’s book. Author Vichi De Marchi, spokesperson for the World Food Programme (WFP) in Italy and author of a number of children’s stories, takes a fresh look at the work of the world’s largest humanitarian organisation.

“The Team: Emergency in Ristanga” shares the story of Carlos, Rachel, and Joe, characters from “Food Force,” and their adventurous work through WFP.

Heroes

As these normal individuals become heroes through their humanitarian work, we follow them through their mission in the flood-struck Ristanga, an imaginary country reflecting the traits of innumerable WFP operations.

Watch these characters face both heartaches and joys as they work through this life-saving journey and give you a true look into the lives of actual individuals striving to end world hunger.

Written in Italian, this exciting novel is being presented at the Bologna Children’s Fair in Italy on April 1st, with other translations underway.

Struggles

The game that inspired the novel is already available in 11 languages, with over 6 million players worldwide. As WFP continues to reach out and teach about humanitarian aid, individuals who purchase the book will have a direct hand in helping those who are affected by the struggles portrayed in the game and novel.

Sales from the book will go towards WFP’s “Fill the Cup” campaign, which aims to provide meals for the 59 million children who go to school hungry in the world every day. It costs 20 euro cents to fill the cup of a hungry school child, and for each copy of the book sold, 20 cents will be donated to the World Food Programme.

So don’t miss this opportunity to join Carlos, Rachel, and Joe as they come to life in “Emergency in Ristanga.” From the computer screen to a thrilling novel, their mission becomes yours in this gripping adventure. Be sure to watch out for further details on the release of the English translation.
