BAGHDAD, April 8 (Reuters) - Four American soldiers were killed by an explosion near their vehicle in Diyala province north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

In a statement, the military said the incident occurred on Saturday. Another soldier was wounded, it added.

Diyala is one of the most volatile provinces in Iraq.

More than 3,270 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the 2003 invasion.
