Greenpeace activists prepare to unfold a banner during a protest against carbon emissions in front of a coal-fired power station west of Beijing July 28, 2009. Greenpeace claims in a report that greenhouse gas emissions from China's top three power firms outrank those of the entire United Kingdom. China's power stations are heavily reliant on the dirty fuel because the country has vast reserves that can meet almost all domestic demand, while oil or gas supplies have to be supplemented with heavy fuels from abroad.
