Demonstrators throw stones at police during a protest to commemorate the upcoming anniversary of the 1973 military coup, in Valparaiso City, about 75 miles (121 km) northwest of Santiago September 8, 2009. September 11 marks the 36th anniversary of the coup d'etat in Chile that ushered in a 17-year dictatorship under former General Augusto Pinochet.
