Celso, a Tarahumara Siriame (Governor), takes a break in a pine forest near the helmet of Maguarichi, northern Chihuahua state January 23, 2008. In the snows and freezing air of northern Mexico's remote Sierra Tarahumara mountains, dozens of hardy Indian men, women and children die every winter from hypothermia, malnourishment, and cold-related diseases, as they struggle to survive apart from the outside world. Around 70 percent of Tarahumara children under five suffer from malnutrition and those who recover in hospital often return six months later in the same critical condition.
