A view of the Cerro Rico mine (background) is seen in Potosi, some 600 km (373 miles) south of La Paz, in this March 2003 file photo. High silver prices are drawing a frenzy of miners to a colonial-era mine at Potosi in Bolivia, but the mine has become so dangerous that authorities fear the mine, part of a World Heritage Site, could collapse. Students stand tied to railings during a protest in Sucre, some 416 km (258 miles) southeast of La Paz, August 28, 2007. Opposition supporters in six regions of Bolivia protested increasing social tensions, as Bolivia's President Evo Morales accused the rightist opposition of stirring up protests to hamper his reformist agenda. Opposition leaders said the strike was "to defend democracy" and to demand the seat of government be moved to the eastern city of Sucre from La Paz. The banner reads, "Bolivia I will defend you with my blood".
