Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force personnel walk through a road damaged by heavy rain and mudslides during their reconstruction operation in Hofu, about 770 km (478 miles) west of Tokyo, July 22, 2009. Mudslides caused by heavy rain in western Japan on Tuesday left five people dead and eight missing, including elderly residents of a nursing home, Japanese media reported.
