Shanthi, a female Asian elephant weighing about 9,000 pounds (4,082 kg) follows caretaker Sean's directions during an elephant training demonstration at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, September 6, 2007. Shanthi came from Sri Lanka, where she was rehabilitated at the Pinnewela Elephant Orphanage. She was given to the National Zoo as a gift from the children of Sri Lanka in 1976.
