The eastern programme is mainly rural and conflict-related, the western work is urban and development oriented. The main unifying theme is child protection, which includes a prominent role in the national Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration programme (East) as well as pioneering work with children accused of witchcraft (West). In addition, the DRC programme makes an important contribution to the Save the Children's Alliance global programme and campaign on education in conflict 'Rewrite the Future'.
