Who we are
Despite rapid economic growth across East Asia since the 1960's, nearly half the combined population of Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam still live on less than US$2 a day. We believe that in a world rich in resources, poverty and suffering aren't just facts of life, but injustices which must be overcome. We're proud of the difference we've already made, through our long-term programmes of development and essential emergency relief. And we need you to help make the difference to Cambodia.

The role
Doing all you can to empower communities and help move them out of poverty, you'll manage the humanitarian programme in Cambodia, making sure that Oxfam and our partners are ready to respond to a whole range of humanitarian issues. With responsibilities in co-ordination, management, advisory and practical support, you'll have a real influence over our efforts in the area. More specifically, you'll provide active leadership, develop country preparedness for a number of eventualities and keep gender analysis & understanding a key focus in the development of our programmes. What's more, you'll co-ordinate the Country Management team, managing country finances and taking the lead on donor contracts along the way.

What we are looking for
Given the wide scope of this role, you'll have demonstrable experience of policy development in relation to humanitarian response work and an understanding of relief issues, preferably in the context of an emergency situation. You'll also be a strategic thinker, able to apply reason to every area, and have the interpersonal and management experience to provide valuable leadership where it's needed most. Through a familiarity with multi-funded projects, you'll be confident in overseeing the financial aspects of the role. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.

To apply
At Oxfam, we believe that every aspect of our work can lead to a positive outcome. If you share this vision and commitment, then you're exactly what we're looking for. Make the most of this considerable challenge and scope for personal fulfilment by finding out more or applying at www.Oxfam.org.uk/jobs quoting ref: INT2256

Closing date: 14 December
