Description:Emergency Programme Coordinator, Disaster Risk Reduction

Contract length: - 1 year contract with possible extension

Salary: - £29K gross per annum

For the past 20 years, HelpAge International has been responding through local partners worldwide to emergencies that affect older people. We provide support, backup, and advice to country offices and partners on management, funding, logistics, planning, reporting, and monitoring & evaluation.

You will contribute to the development and rolling out of a disaster risk reduction approach to HelpAge International's emergencies programmes with key partners, providing training and mentoring on best practice. You will also provide day to day management of designated programmes responding to specific crises. You will train, advise and support staff and partners in all aspects of an emergency programmes.

You will have skills in one or more technical areas of social protection, livelihoods and food security, health and nutrition and disaster risk reduction and you are confident to provide support in that area. Through your experience of managing and implementing humanitarian programmes and Disaster Risk Reduction concepts, you will give effective advice to field operations from a distance and build capacity in these areas. In addition to these skills you will have exposure to UN and international donor systems.

You will be required to travel at short notice for extended periods.
