Description:Position summary:

A number of national SOS associations in Western Europe and North America raise funds for child care programmes in Southern Countries. This position assures the proper involvement of these 'Promoting- and Supporting Associations' (PSA) in the further development of strategies and processes. The support of the special needs of these associations is based on a close cooperation with the various functional areas within the International and Continental Offices. For our NORDIC countries, an intensive cooperation is foreseen including all functions of a Regional Director within the General Secretariat (GSC).

General aims of the position:

Establishing a strong partnership between SOS national associations and the GSC as equal partners in close cooperation through:
• Coordinating the participation of PSAs in international processes, in particular the policy and strategy development of SOS-Kinderdorf International (SOS-KDI) and its implementation
• Facilitation of dynamic networks of PSA co-workers for key areas
• Encouraging and facilitating the information sharing and knowledge transfer amongst the SOS associations of different countries
• Acting as an in-house advocate for PSAs within the different functional areas

Priority tasks & responsibilities:

• Linking PSAs to policy development processes and international projects (identifying and supporting PSA representatives in international teams and working groups; anchoring feedback with stakeholders of the relevant processes)
• Supporting the process of strategic and operational planning on the basis of the global strategy for 2009 - 2016 and the consolidated continental plan
• Getting PSA executives involved in the meeting flow of legal bodies of SOS-KDI (Executive Committee and International Senate) and in the new functions structure of the International Office (IO)
• Further development of continental meeting-structure for key decision makers, alignment of content
• Internal GSC processing of results from PSA board meetings, planning documents, end-of-year procedures and audits; preparing and presenting relevant information from these materials for SOS-KDI President and Secretary-General
• Providing content proficiency at CO EUNA meetings with PSA background
• EUNA representative in the Intranet Editorial Team
• Proxy for PSAs in all relevant IO-internal and international project groups

Requirements:

• Educational background: University degree in management, business administration, economics or law
• 7+ years experience in NGOs in a European environment, thereof 5 + years in a management function
• Proven competence and expertise in creating, leading and facilitating dynamic networks
• Ability to contribute to the definition of standards and policies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and a Nordic language
• Creativity, a strategic outlook, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a business-minded approach
• EU citizenship or labour permit for Austria required
