| Description: | The development challenges facing Pakistan social, economic, and political are immense. In particular; children in Pakistan face a variety of serious challenges ranging from malnutrition and poor access to education and health facilities to exploitation in the form of child labour.
Save the Children UK has been active in Pakistan in developing and delivering programmes for and with children to deliver change for children and improving our accountability to children. Today, we work in partnership with local agencies and the government to improve children's experience of, and access to, education; to keep them healthy and safe from harm; and to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies such as the earthquake in October 2005. Based on our experience of working with and learning from children, we are also campaigning for changes to national policies and legislation that affect children.
The needs of children in Pakistan are enormous, and so are the opportunities to bring about dramatic change for children. We seek an exceptional individual with proven management excellence at an international level to provide leadership, creativity and drive to a large and dedicated team of professional staff. You will be ambitious, dynamic and creative, with excellent conceptual, analytical, facilitation and negotiation skills, and you will be comfortable working in the field and across different cultures. If this is you, then you're the person we're looking for.
As Country Director, you will manage, develop and drive forward our work across the country. From programme development and management to policy advocacy and resource mobilisation, you'll ensure strategic and responsive development in all areas. A critical responsibility will be to scale up our programmes and funding in health, education and protection, alongside demonstrating the impact of our work. Another key responsibility will be to recruit, identify, develop and retain talent in the country team. You will represent our work at the most senior levels to a range of stakeholders including government, partners, bilateral and multilateral agencies, NGOs, the media and the public in order to influence policy and practice, and maximise the benefits and impact for children. You'll keep abreast of, and be responsive to, the country's security environment; promote, maintain and implement robust field security policies and practices; and, establish effective contingency plans.
