Handicap International is a non-governmental international organisation. Its mandate places people in disabling situations and their entourage at the heart of its preoccupations. Handicap International implements programs of assistance to persons and local organisations, inclusion programs and programs focusing on the fight against the main causes of disability. It runs projects in almost 60 countries, with the support of a network of 8 national associations (Germany, Belgium, Canada, United-States, Luxembourg, United Kingdom and Switzerland)
The organisation employs almost 3300 people worldwide, of whom 330 work in France and in its European and North American sections.
Job context:

DIPECHO finances several partners in the region to be trained in relation to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
Handicap Internationals, within the frame of a 18th months project, targets Disabled People Organizations (DPOs) as key partners to mainstreaming disability issues into DRR plans. These DPOs will therefore work closely with DIPECHO partners in order to mainstream Disability issus within their community work.

The Disability expert will work under the responsability of the DIPECHO Project Manager based in Tashkent.

The Location for the implementation of the activities are in Tachkent and in Fergana Valley

Duties:
The stake of this post is to provide the technical expertise and trainings on disability issues to DPOs and DIPECHO partners in order to include disability issues in their Disaster Risk Reduction plan and sensitize the communities.

Objectives:
• Provide expertise and facilitate within the DPOs working group to:
- develop a training guide on mainstreaming Disability issus into DRR
- develop and publish material on inclusive DRR
• Organize a training for 30 trainers of trainers (members of DPOs) on inclusive DRR,
• Mentor the Trainers of Trainers and provide guidance in their first trainings implementation to DIPECHO partners trainers.
• Design the framework of a survey to carry out on 'Disability confidence' among DIPECHO DRR trainers for the purpose of measuring the "impact" of the trainings.
• Provide support to the DRR Project Manager when needed, notably on monitoring and evaluation issues.
• Other tasks could be added according to the needs of the project and the program.

Profile sought:
Occupational therapist or physiotherapist, or social degree

Essential competencies:
Wide understanding of Disability issue
Experience in working with partner organisations

Desirable competencies or competencies to be acquired:
Strong training skills
Knowledge of Disaster Risk Reduction
Autonomy
Previous experience with HI

Languages: English,

Conditions: Volunteer or salaried status, according to experience
Volunteer status: 750 or 850 Euros per month according to experience+ benefits
Salaried status: 1900 to 2200 Euros per month according to experience + benefits

Length of mission: 6 Month
Start date: November
