Position Summary:Assist national offices with the design and implementation of child-focused disaster management programs that respond to natural or man-made crises, prepare communities for disasters, and assist in early recovery from crises or other forms of transition in communities. Represent organization at global Child Protection meetings, in international working groups and on special committees and write about organization's program work for publications. Assist in preparation of funding proposals and training of the regional and national offices.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with several working teams on the development of psychosocial child protection and child-friendly multi-sectoral program options for disaster management, both in planned training sessions as well as collaborative working deployments during crisis.
Plan and implement appropriate programs for child protection in collaboration with local offices that respond to conditions of severe adversity for children, including chronic crises, early recovery, disaster preparedness, and humanitarian response. Develop funding proposals and assist offices to make linkages with donors and collaborative groups.
Lead and participate in psychosocial and child protection working groups and other international fora as determined.
Contribute to articles and other publications for external audiences, highlighting the organization's work and adding to the general reflection and development in the child protection and psychosocial response networks globally.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to cooperate and work effectively with others in an emergency setting.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills demonstrating the ability to understand and discuss complex issues around child protection.
Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute ideas.
Excellent project management skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating an ability to motivate, influence and gain the support of others and to have effective collaborative working relationships.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Able to set out and discuss complex issues clearly for a wide audience and to give presentations in a fluent and persuasive manner to people at all levels.
Demonstrates ability to work independently and as part of a team, including experience with working collaboratively with representatives from other organizations.
Ability to work in difficult circumstances and in international, multi-cultural environments.
Ability to manage a budget.
Fluent in English both oral and written required.
Fully proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Up to 50% travel to developing countries to attend meetings and respond to crises.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Post graduate degree in relevant field such as psychology, child psychology or social work preferred.
A minimum of 5 years' field experience required in designing, implementing, evaluating, and supporting holistic, community-based, culturally grounded programs for assisting at-risk children and their families.

Experience with developing an agency-wide, holistic approach to child protection that integrates community-based psychosocial dimensions and cuts across multiple sectors in a child-friendly approach.
Prior experience in collaborating, advocating and negotiating with international child protection partners such as UNICEF, international NGOs, and donors required.
