Tearfund has been working in Afghanistan through its Disaster Management Team (DMT) since 2001. We are looking for an experienced individual with proven NGO and relief experience in insecure environments for our Disaster Management Team Programme in Afghanistan. The post holder will provide advice and assistance to support security, health and safety management in all the programme's activities.
Key responsibilities will include keeping senior management well briefed on all security developments in the programme area, with a focus on analysis of information, ensuring all project activities are carried out with regard to the security environment; developing and maintaining Tearfund's safety policy and assisting field management in maintaining practical facilities. The role also include liaising with other organizations, notably ANSO and UNDSS to coordinate security plans and safety related information exchange; monitoring the outworking of Tearfund's health and safety policies, and recommending any issues of compliance to be addressed.
The post holder will not be required to make autonomous security decisions, but will provide information and advice to managers to assist in their decision-making.
